It’s late, I know, but I managed to get this page done.
First of all: the Book Gymboree is tomorrow! 10-4 at the RecPlex fieldhouse, 9900 Terwell Terrace, Pleasant Prairie, WI. I’m very excited to be there, and I hope you will be too!
Ten more pages after this one! That means only five more weeks until the draft is finished. Thanks for sticking with me.
We’re bringing some plot threads together for the ending!

A seven-panel, black-and-white comic page.
Panel 1: Ichiro and Resunotek stand inside the door to the teahouse, looking in on the (relative) crowd. Shelves on the wall beside Resunotek’s head hold a teapot, a stack of three cups, and a cricket in a small cage.
Panel 2: A closer shot of the samurai on the left side of the room. The one seated on the far end of the table leans in toward his neighbors.
Samurai 1: Gone, he said. The whole estate.
Nothing but the posts and a pile of ashes and bones.
Panel 3: The monk with the shamisen sits down at a table with a wide smile. He tugs on the shoulder strap of his instrument as he does. His hair is short and tousled. This is Kazu.
Kazu: Do you mind?
Panel 4: The very tall monk sitting alone looks up from his teacup, a look of bewildered surprise on his face. This is Tanki.
Tanki: Oh, uh–not at all. Thank you. Please.
Panel 5: Two of the samurai on the right side of the room (behind Tanki) glance at each other. They are standing near their table, where their companions are seated, and they both have hands on their swords.
Panel 6: Cut diagonally with the previous, the first group of samurai continues their conversation.
Samurai 1: He said it must have been the work of a demon.
Samurai 2: A demon?
Panel 7: A closer shot of Ichiro and Resunotek. Resunotek looks off to the side, distracted by the cricket in the cage (out of frame). Ichiro has started to remove his quiver from his back, but he stops and looks suspiciously at the conversing samurai.
