Panel 2: In response, Resunotek holds up the kimono by the shoulders. Only her hands and her face above the nose are visible. There is still a faint blood stain where Ichiro was stabbed, but the cut has been repaired with a line of neat stitches.
Panel 3: A closer shot of Ichiro. He’s lowered his eyes and his head, looking dejected.
Ichiro (narrating): I’m supposed to be dead.
Panel 4: The face of Ichiro’s father, lying in the snow, as we saw him last many pages ago. The image is washed out and faded.
Ichiro (narrating): My family is gone.
Panel 5: Similarly, the burned skeleton of a Satake samurai, with the footprint of an enormous boar beside it.
Ichiro (narrating): I’m supposed to avenge them, but I can’t.
Panel 6: Ichiro’s sunken chest, with the bandage wrapped around his abdomen. He touches it gingerly with one hand.
Ichiro (narrating): I could just…go back to sleep.

Ichiro (narrating): I’m still so weak. It wouldn’t take long–
