LAST PAGE OF THIS CHAPTER!
This page had seven panels in my outline, and I decided to pare them down–partly to make less work for me, and partly to make the page less busy and have more room for text. There’s actually text on this page!
Bonus art next Tuesday, and then we’ll start the new chapter on Friday.
Warnings for blood, a severed head, and what I would describe as setting-appropriate passive suicidal ideation. Things will improve in the next chapter, I promise.
You’ll find the page below:

This page is also available on Patreon. Consider signing up as a paid member ($3/month) to get the incoming bonus art!

Image description:
A mostly black-and-white, five-panel comic page.
Panel 1: Now covered in snow, Ichiro wakes up again at the foot of the spike on which the jito’s head rests. He lies on his side facing the viewer, and the bottom half of the jito’s face is visible at the top of the panel.
Ichiro (narrating): I’m not dead.
Panel 2: He sits up. Some snow clings to his hair and shoulders. He doesn’t look much better than when he last lost consciousness.
Ichiro (narrating): I’m supposed to be dead.
Panel 3: He stands and faces the jito’s head. They are both in profile, eye to eye, with the head on the left and Ichiro on the right.
Ichiro (narrating): What now?
Panel 4: A closer shot of the severed head. Snow has collected in its hair and beard and on the planes of its face, and frost has formed in the eyes.
Ichiro (narrating): Head to the city. Report to the daimyō.
Tell him what happened.
He’ll either hire me on, or he’ll take my head for what happened here.
It doesn’t matter.
Panel 5: Ichiro makes his way through a forest of tall, straight trees, leaving footprints through the snow as he walks away from the viewer. Blood has soaked through the right side of his clothing and down his right leg, and he leaves a spatter of blood on the ground as he goes.
Ichiro (narrating): I’m supposed to be dead.
