Last Watch Before Dawn: Volume 1, Page 37

Thumbnail of Panel 1, described below.

Silhouettes are so dramatic and so much fun. They also save me a ton of time.

Also, did I not put Page 36 where it was supposed to be? I was just going to update the links and it didn’t have an image. You know you’re allowed to tell me if I screw up, right? I promise I won’t be mad.

I researched what blood loss does to a person, and among other things, it’s (obviously) very dehydrating. So that’s what’s going on here. We have three more pages of this chapter, so bear with me.

The full page is below (I definitely checked this time):

Image description:

A six-panel, mostly black-and-white comic page.

Panel 1: In silhouette, we see Ichiro making his way back home from the site of the ambush, walking from right to left. The trees are the same ones we saw him walking through with his family when they left the estate. His posture is bent, and one hand gropes through the air ahead of him. The handle of the knife still protrudes from his back, amongst his gear.

Panel 2: He stops and leans against a tree, his other arm wrapped around himself. Blood spots the snow under his feet and around his footprints leading up to this spot. The scene is bright again after moonrise, and Ichiro and the trees cast long shadows.

Panel 3: A close-up of his face. His mouth is slack and his eyes staring as he looks up and to the left, vaguely in the direction of the light source. The dark circles under his eyes have gotten worse, and his lips are split and bleeding.

Panel 4: A wide shot as he drops to his knees in the snow, burying his hands. More blood stains the snow where he was standing. Two shadowed trees tower over him.

Panel 5: He brings two handfuls of snow to his mouth, covering his face with his hands.

Panel 6: Water drips from his face as he wipes his mouth with the back of his hand. The droplets are somewhat reddish.
