I probably should have drawn all the men in detail in Panel 3, but I honestly did not have the time. The shadows look more menacing, anyway.

Panel 1: The clan jito takes an arrow to the shoulder. Blood, rendered in dark red, spurts from where it emerges from his kimono. He grimaces in pain and surprise. His mount, the antlered deer, twists its head up and back as it rears.
Panel 2: A second arrow lances across Ichiro’s face. His eyes go wide. A bloody line is carve across his cheek and the bridge of his nose.
Panel 3: Seven shadowy samurai emerge from the trees. Two have bows (one longbow and a short hunting bow), and the rest have swords. Two of them are wearing helmets. They rather resemble the samurai we have already seen, with kimono and hakama tucked into their insufficient armor.
Panel 4: Ichiro and his father both draw their swords. Ichiro, with his bleeding face, looks anxious, while Tarahito appears to have a sort of grim acceptance on his face.
Panel 5: The jito turns his deer around on the muddy, snow-embanked path. The arrow still emerges from his chest. Action lines follow the deer’s head as the jito yanks on the reins.
