Last Watch Before Dawn: Volume 1, Page 19

Today, I was working on some bonus art for you for when this chapter is done, and Photoshop crashed, took Windows out with it, and corrupted the file so that it couldn’t be opened. I managed to restore the version of the file from yesterday, so not all was lost, but I did lose a couple hours of work.

I’m learning so many fun ways that Photoshop can fail!

Today’s page is below the cut, where things continue to be on fire (literally, instead of metaphorically like my computer):

Image description:

A four-panel, mostly black-and-white comic page.

Panel 1: Resunotek, in her straw cloak and hood, stands in front of the burning shelves holding the eggs. The fire is spreading, and is rendered in yellow and orange.

Panel 2: In profile, she places one hand on the shelves and reaches up with the other to rescue an egg. Smoke obscures the edges of the panel.

Panel 3: A small inset. One mittened hand reaches out toward an egg. The developing caterpillar inside is curled into itself, suspended in translucent green.

Panel 4: The shelf collapses. The fire flares in brilliant white. Resunotek, silhouetted in front of it, falls to her knees and covers her head with her arms. The egg rolls away toward the viewer. Two more eggs have broken and caught fire. The sound effect in the flames reads “WHOOOOOOOOSHHHH”
