A six-panel, black-and-white comic page.

Panel 1: A temple stands on a snowy plain. The columns on either side of the door are carved with a moth emblem. The shoji doors are slightly ajar, and a priestess with white hair and pointed ears, dressed in a kimono and hakama, stands outside them with her hands tucked into her sleeves. A tall, three-legged structure stands behind the temple, towering over it. The sky is gray and clouded, and snow blows through the air.

Panel 2: Two young women descend a set of stairs carved into a sheer rock face. They wear straw cloaks and mittens. The woman in front, lower down, covers her face with one arm and carries a covered basket in the other. Her hair is shoulder length and blows over her face. The woman behind her holds her cloak around her, and her hair is tied up in a bun. A strong wind blows from behind them, right to left. A rope serves as a handrail along the outer edge of the stairs.

Panel 3: The entire temple complex built into the side of a cliff. The temple seen in Panel 1 sits on top of the cliff, and two tall windmills stand beside it (the three-legged structure from Panel 1 is the bottom of a windmill). Shoji doors and tiled roofs cover entrances carved into the rock, and carved staircases run up and down between them. Embedded into the cliff is the skull of some enormous, semi-humanoid creature. Its eye socket lies below the temple, filled in with a wall that contains a shoji door and four vertical windows above it. The skull has one visible incisor and a long, curved canine tooth; the cavern underneath them has a platform that juts out into the empty sky to the right. A flag stands on the end of the platform. The largest structure is at the bottom of the panel, with several shoji doors and a blowing curtain covering the entrance. The two figures from Panel 2 can be seen on a staircase leading down from the top of the cliff. Another figure stands in front of a door behind the skull. Garlands of triangular flags hang across the skull’s eye socket and its jawless mouth. Two vertebrae of its neck can also be seen emerging from the rock underneath the back of the skull. Snow blows across the scene, and the sky (above and to the right of the cliff) is cloudy and gray.

Panel 4: A closer view of the skull’s eye socket. Triangular flags hang from a line stretched across five vertical windows above an open shoji door. Outside the door lies a platform, and a rope tied to a post provides a safety rail along the outside. Inside the door, the shadowy shapes of two enormous cocoons can be seen, as well as the figure of a young woman in a black robe sweeping the floor.

Panel 5: From inside the room, a view of the open door and the platform beyond. The rope can be seen through the opening, as can a stretch of sky and blowing snow. The same young woman sits on the floor in front of the door, pulling on a pair of cloth boots. Her hair is in a messy braid, and she has traditional Ainu tattoos: a woven pattern on her hands and a smile across her mouth. The broom stands beside the door next to her, and a straw cloaks hangs on the wall, in shadow.

Panel 6: The young woman puts on the straw cloak, facing the viewer. Behind her, three giant cocoons lie at the back of the room. The floor is wood paneling. Her head is bowed and her eyes lowered. She wears a black robe with a white collar and sash, and we see a little more of the simple woven pattern tattooed on her forearms.
