Patreon Livestream this Sunday!

A snow-covered forest against an orange sunset.
It’s winter!

This month’s Patreon livestream will be this Sunday, December 19, from 3-5pm Central US time. I’ll be playing some Skyrim and talking about fantasy tropes and the publishing process for Beyond the Frost-Cold Sea, as well as whatever you want to talk about!

If you’re not subscribed to Patreon, it’s less than a cup of medium black coffee a month, and you get livestreams, early chapters, and more bonus material! Check it out here.

Song of the Week

Darling Violetta, “Sanctuary” (theme from Angel)

It’s Monday again.

There are things happening in blog-land this week! First, I’ll have the latest chapter of Journey to the Water available here on Wednesday. Patreon supporters could read it a week early, so if that’s something that interests you, it’s only $3 a month!

Special thanks to Brooke Miller, Stephen Crane, Lili Crane, Jane McCreedy, and Chelsea Cheveria for supporting me on Patreon and making my work possible. I can now afford my meds on Patreon alone, which is pretty cool.

Speaking of Patreon, I’ll be holding a special Patreon Livestream this weekend! I’ll be playing a game and chatting with viewers about fantasy tropes and whatever else you want to talk about. It’s also great background entertainment for your holiday baking. I’ll have more details later this week as I finalize my schedule.

I’ll also be on Twitch tonight and possibly Saturday night, pending holiday prep.

Line edits for Beyond the Frost-Cold Sea are continuing. I’ll update you all when they’re done and let you know my next steps toward publication!

As always, thank you for reading, and have an excellent week.

New Patreon Post / Journey to the Water Interlude One

You cannot return from whence you came, and beyond the borders of this place lie the spirit wilds. You’d be likely to have your face stolen, or worse.

Journey to the Water Interlude One

The latest chapter of Journey to the Water is now available on Patreon! I’m very excited about this one, as you’ll not only be able to check on what’s going on with Khalim, but you’ll also find out a little about the cosmology of this setting.

Thank you to everyone who supports me on Patreon. It’s been really helpful, and I’m so, so grateful.

If you’re not a Patreon subscriber, would you consider becoming one? It’s only $3 a month, and if I get one more subscriber, I can pay for both the meds I have to take to keep me functional (and writing!) all year round. Plus, you get all chapters a week early, Patreon livestreams where you can chat with me about fantasy tropes and whatever else you like, and there will be a new, Patreon-exclusive story starting sometime in the near-ish future.

If not, don’t worry, I still appreciate you and you can read this chapter here on the blog next week!

Song of the Week

Jen Titus, “O Death” (traditional, from Supernatural)

Happy Monday! I hope you are safe and warm wherever you are. We’ve had our first snowfall here. It didn’t accumulate much, but more is coming.

This week, I’ll have the next chapter of Journey to the Water available on Patreon. I’m planning on a Patreon Livestream soon as well, so stay tuned for updates on that. It’s only $3 a month, and you get livestreams, early chapters, and some other bonus content that’s in the works.

The Tea and Sidequests Channel will be streaming Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice tonight at 6pm US Central time.

Also, an update: I am partway through rewriting the last chapter of Beyond the Frost-Cold Sea! I’m hoping to finish up today, and then do final edits this week. I should have a release date soon!

Thanks for being here. Have an excellent week.

New Patreon Post/Journey to the Water Chapter V

“I am looking for the seers of these islands. A dragon told me that they could help me.”

Journey to the Water Chapter V

The latest chapter is now available on Patreon! You can unlock it and also get all future chapters early for less than a medium cup of black coffee a month. There are also added benefits, like Patreon livestreams and my undying gratitude.

If not, you’ll see this chapter here on the website next week.

Reminder: Patreon Livestream!

Hello there! This is just a friendly reminder that I am holding my inaugural Patreon Livestream at 2pm Central time, which is about two hours from the time this post goes up. I’ll be talking about vampire mythology with my friend Logan, who is an expert in World of Darkness lore. Topics may include Vampire: the Masquerade, Dracula, international vampire myths, the Mark of Cain, and Beowulf. You may even get to hear me read some Old English, which I haven’t done in years, so please only make fun of me gently.

You can get to my Patreon via this link. It’s only $3 a month to sign up and get the Secret YouTube Link to watch the livestream and join the conversation. You’ll also get access to new chapters a week early, future Patreon Livestreams, and some other fun bonus content that I am adding as I go.

New Patreon Post/Journey to the Water Chapter IV

I am no longer in Governor Niran’s employ. He was dishonest. I want to know the truth.

Journey to the Water Chapter IV

The latest chapter of Journey to the Water is available on Patreon! If you want to read chapters before all your friends, you can subscribe for just $3 a month. If not, you’ll see this chapter here on the website next week.

Inaugural Patreon Livestream: This Saturday!

A copy of Bram Stoker's Dracula, the Collector's Library complete & unabridged version, lies on a wooden table with a scattering of 10-sided dice. An filter has been applied to the image to create an oil-paint-like effect.

My first Patreon livestream will be this Saturday, November 13, from 2:00 in the afternoon until around 4. I’ll be talking about vampire lore with my good friend Logan, who is an expert in the World of Darkness RPG system and an all-around cool guy. I’ll also be playing Vampire: the Masquerade–Bloodlines so you have something to look at while we chat besides my face. You’ll be able to join the conversation, maybe learn some cool mythology, and marvel at what we thought were good graphics in 2004.

The link will only be available on Patreon, so if you’re interested, click here. For less than the cost of a tube of the good toothpaste a month, you can have access to these livestreams and some other cool stuff.

I hope to see you on Saturday!

The Decemberists, “The Crane Wife 3”

Welcome back! It’s Monday again.

This week, I’ll have the next chapter of Journey to the Water up on Patreon. I’m also doing my first Patreon livestream on Saturday, November 13! I’ll be talking about vampire lore from around the real world and the World of Darkness RPG system with a good friend who is a World of Darkness expert. If you want to get in on either of those things, my Patreon is only $3 a month.

I am still committed to keeping blog content free, so Journey to the Water chapter IV will be up here on the website next week.

I’m also participating in National Novel Writing Month this year, and it’s…going. I’m working on a new, improved draft of Beyond the Frost-Cold Sea so that it can become a Real Book that you can hold in your hands or on your e-reader, hopefully before Christmas. I’ll post an update later this week!

As always, thanks for being here, and have an excellent week.

Song of the Week

Máire (Moya) Brennan, “Cé Leis”

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a happy and safe Halloween and a good weekend. We had our first trick-or-treaters at the new house, and I feel like I’ve finally achieved Real Adulthood.

You may have noticed the new Directory Post that is pinned to the top of the home page. I hope it helps you navigate around! And if you ever get lost, the tabs at the top will help you find your way.

On Wednesday, the third chapter of Journey to the Water will be available here on the blog! Patreon subscribers were able to read it last week, so if you’re interested in reading chapters early, you can subscribe for just $3 a month. There will also be a Bonus Patreon Livestream, where I’ll be playing Vampire: the Masquerade: Bloodlines and talking about vampire lore, sometime in the next week or two. I’ll be sure to keep you posted.

I’ll also be streaming on Twitch tonight and Saturday night with the Tea and Sidequests Channel.

See you soon, and have an excellent week.
