Song of the Week

Hozier, “Empire Now”

Good morning!

In case you missed it, The Book of the New Moon Door is now available on more audiobook platforms. It may also be available from your library’s digital catalogue! If it’s not, you can always request to be notified if and when it’s available. If enough people do that, the library will buy a copy.

I’m working on another page of Last Watch Before Dawn, and I should have it ready by Wednesday. I’m hoping to get to a pace of two or more pages per week, so as to finish the first volume before the heat death of the universe.

On Saturday, I’ll be at Story Keepers Books in West Allis, WI for a Meet the Author event! The address is 7035 W Greenfield Ave, and the event runs from noon until 3. Bring books for me to sign! The shop has a few, also. More information can be found here.

A couple of petitions:

Via Women’s March: Abolish ICE

Via IfNotNow: Stop home demolitions in Umm al-Khair

Via CHN Action: Governors must demand SNAP funding

Via Civic Shout: Call for an immediate ceasefire in Sudan

That’s all I have for today! I’ll be back later with more comic, and I hope to see you at the bookshop on Saturday.

Song of the Week

Hozier, “Francesca”

Good morning! I’m back!

The Figuratively Speaking Mermaid Tarot Kickstarter was a smashing success. Thank you so much to everyone who pledged. As soon as I hear from Brooke, I will let you know when you can expect your decks in the mail.

I will be working on Journey to the Water until it’s finally done, so you won’t hear much from me. I’ll stop by on Friday for an update.

This month, I’ll be attending What the Hex: Season of the Witch on October 20 in Cudahy, WI, and the Fall Fon du Lac Spirit Fair on October 26. Links lead to their respective Facebook events. I hope to see you there!

It’s October 7 again, and the bombs are still falling and the hostages still haven’t been returned. Tens of thousands are needlessly dead.

Via USCPR: Tell Congress to stop arming Israel

Via Win Without War: Urge President Biden to de-escalate this crisis

Via AFSC: Tell Congress to prevent regional war

That’s all I’ve got for today. Thanks for stopping by!

Song of the Week

Hozier, “Work Song”

Good morning! Bit of a throwback today. A moderate throwback.

I am experimenting with scheduling content this week. I normally post everything by hand, if that’s the correct term, which you have probably noticed, because chapters are sometimes a few hours late. I try to post them at noon on the appointed days. The first time I tried to use a third-party scheduling app for Instagram, it tanked my already abysmal engagement, so I haven’t really messed with it since. However, I’ve been told that scheduling content is the way to save me time and energy, and I want to keep a consistent posting schedule while I’m spending all my time on rewrites, so here we are. Don’t worry, I still get notifications for comments and things, so I won’t be absent from the blog.

On that note, I’ll have the LAST CHAPTER of Journey to the Water on Patreon tomorrow, and the second-to-last chapter will be here on Wednesday for free reading. If they post at 12PM Central on the dot, you’ll know I succeeded with the scheduling.

Not too many petitions this week, but here’s what I have:

Via USCPR: Call Congress–stop arming Israel

Via MoveOn: Call on Congress to skip PM Netanyahu’s speech

I think that’s all for today. I love you, stay hydrated, and have an excellent week.

Song of the Week

Hozier, “De Selby (Part 1)”

Good morning!

I’m continuing to work on The Book of the New Moon Door. I’ll be back at the end of this week with an update on an estimated release date. The short version: this is a big book (not Wheel of Time doorstopper big, but about twice as long as Beyond the Frost-Cold Sea), and an October release date is probably out of reach, but I plan to prepare some extremely fancy signed preorders for my two events in October.

In the meantime, I’ll have a new chapter on Patreon tomorrow and last week’s chapter here for free reading on Wednesday. I hope you’re enjoying the serial version, and I hope you’ll enjoy the published version more.

Thanks for being here! Have an excellent week.

Song of the Week

Hozier and Bear McCreary, “Blood Upon the Snow” (from God of War: Ragnarök)

You know, I’ve never played a God of War game, but this song makes me want to.

That’s going to have to wait, however, because I’m starting Part Three of The Book of the New Moon Door! I’ll post a NaNo update on Friday. The last chapter of Part Two will be up here on Wednesday. There will also be a new chapter of Journey to the Water on Patreon tomorrow.

Responses to the New Moon Door poll were sparse and mixed, so I think I will maintain the chapter-by-chapter posting schedule for now. I’ll reevaluate when Part Three is written (my goal is by the end of May), and maybe again when editing is done (late summer). If all the chapters haven’t been posted by then, I may save the ending for the published book 😉

Also, I’ll make a bigger announcement later, but I’ll be at the What the Hex Witches’ Market on May 6 at Falcon Bowl in Milwaukee! Mostly, I’ll be supporting Brooke and her Figuratively Speaking Tarot, but I’ll have a few copies of Beyond the Frost-Cold Sea to sell and sign and some bookmarks to hand out. Stay tuned for more details.

As always, thanks for being here, and have an excellent week.

Song of the Week

Hozier featuring Mavis Staples, “Nina Cried Power”

It’s Monday.

Black lives matter–they have value, and should be cherished, today and all days. Property can be replaced. Human beings can’t.

I’ll be back with the next chapter of Beyond the Frost-Cold Sea, where saving the people from a tyrannical system is as simple as sword-fighting a god, on Wednesday.

Stay safe.

ETA: Activists have asked that white creators uplift the voices of Black people instead of their usual content this week, so the next chapter will be available next week. Please see this post for some awesome creators I know, and feel free to recommend me more.

Hozier, “In the Woods Somewhere”

Happy first Monday of 2020! Please enjoy this song.

Midwinter Gaming Convention is in FOUR DAYS. If you’ll be in Milwaukee, I’m hosting The Well Below the Valley on Thursday and Saturday evening, 5:30-9:30. Tickets for the games are free, but you’ll need a con badge. If you’ve never played Call of Cthulhu before, no worries! I’ll have premade characters and a quick & easy intro to the rules ready. All you need to do is show up and be ready to solve a mystery.

Here is the event page for Part One (Thursday).

Here is the event page for Part Two (Saturday).

Here is where you can get convention badges.

I’m hoping to have the next chapter of Beyond the Frost-Cold Sea up on Wednesday, but I may be too swamped with game prep. All the hidden material for The Well Below the Valley will be up next week, and we’ll return to our regular schedule of alternating posts until all chapters are available.

I hope everyone has an excellent week.

Song of the Week

Hozier, “Movement”

Happy Monday!

I’ll be busy this week preparing for Midwinter Gaming Convention and getting some more chapters of Beyond the Frost-Cold Sea ready for you. The next chapter will be up Wednesday. The Well Below the Valley is on hold until after the convention. If you’re interested in playing Call of Cthulhu with me, there’s more information and links here. I’m so excited and nervous to run this module again!

Have an excellent week!
