Good morning!

I’m continuing to work on The Book of the New Moon Door. I’ll be back at the end of this week with an update on an estimated release date. The short version: this is a big book (not Wheel of Time doorstopper big, but about twice as long as Beyond the Frost-Cold Sea), and an October release date is probably out of reach, but I plan to prepare some extremely fancy signed preorders for my two events in October.

In the meantime, I’ll have a new chapter on Patreon tomorrow and last week’s chapter here for free reading on Wednesday. I hope you’re enjoying the serial version, and I hope you’ll enjoy the published version more.

I’m neck-deep in The Book of the New Moon Door and enjoying the one day I can keep the windows open before the heat hits again. When my cats can’t watch the birds and insects flying around, preferably from right up against the screen, they get antsy. Winter is a hard season for them.

First and most importantly: on Sunday (the 16th), I’ll be accompanying Brooke and her Figuratively Speaking Tarot to the What the Hex Summer Witches’ Market! It will be at Dresden Castle: 3775 E Underwood Ave, Cudahy, WI. Admission is free, and the doors will be open from noon until 6, and there will be mermaids. Here’s a link to the Facebook event if that’s where you like to keep track of things. I have been moving HEAVEN and EARTH to get enough copies of Beyond the Frost-Cold Sea in time for you! I hope to see you there!

Also, I am halfway through the Great Reread of New Moon Door. I’m hoping to finish that before the end of the month and make some structural changes in preparation for a Great Rewrite in August.

ETA: Happy Juneteenth! I didn’t realize what day it was.

I regret to inform you that there will be a minor disruption to the normal posting schedule. Between travel and recovery from travel, last week got away from me, and this week looks similarly busy between my cats’ annual checkups and several home improvement projects. There won’t be a new chapter of Journey to the Water this week, but the latest chapter of The Book of the New Moon Door will be up here on Wednesday. I should have a new Journey chapter ready by next week, so your regularly scheduled nonsense will resume shortly. I’ll also have an update on New Moon Door‘s editing progress soon.

Good morning!

Firstly, I am happy to announce that The Book of the New Moon Door is complete! I am the proverbial day late and a dollar short, of course, but it’s done. Final word count for all three parts, including chapter headings, is 170,764. This will probably change significantly as I go through the editing process this summer. New Moon Door has been the least structured of my serial novels (which is a gentle way of saying “I was definitely making this up as I went”), and I’m looking forward to pruning it into shape.

This week, I’ll have a new chapter of Journey to the Water on Patreon tomorrow, and the latest chapter of New Moon Door will be up here on the blog Wednesday.

As of right now, here’s the plan for all my projects going forward: Journey and New Moon Door will continue their biweekly schedule while I’m editing New Moon Door. I’m aiming to publish New Moon Door this year and Journey next year. In between those, I want to revisit The Well Below the Valley and The Tarot of the Gates, possibly rewriting and reformatting the former before writing some new content for it.

I send it only once a month, and it has writing and publishing updates as well as pictures of my garden and my cats.
