Song of the Week

Bright Eyes, “Middleman”

Happy Monday! It is fully winter now, and pervasively, oppressively gray everywhere I look, but I’m trying to stay positive. Please enjoy this song.

I’ll be on Twitch tonight playing Darkest Dungeon! I will also be back here later this week with another chapter of The Book of the New Moon Door. Check back soon!

Have an excellent week, whatever the weather is where you are.

Song of the Week

Blanco White, “El Búho”

Happy Monday. It’s also Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. As the Southern Poverty Law Center likes to say, today, the march continues.

There will be a new chapter of The Book of the New Moon Door sometime this week. While you’re waiting, check out the Stories tab above to catch up on anything you missed 🙂

I’ll also be on the Tea and Sidequests channel this evening and Saturday evening.

Keep fighting the good fight, and have an excellent week.

Song of the Week

Loreena McKennitt, “All Souls Night”

Happy Monday! Here we are in the new year. Please enjoy this song, about beautiful festivals and the passing of the old and the welcoming of the new.

I will be on Twitch tonight making terrible commentary as my husband and streaming partner plays Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord. You can find our channel here. If you stop by and chat, you may see some cats as well. We’ll also be streaming on Saturday, but I haven’t decided what game yet. We might do more Darkest Dungeon.

There will be a new chapter of The Book of the New Moon Door here later this week! I’m trying for Wednesday, but we’ll see how my time management goes.

Song of the Week

Loreena McKennitt, “Coventry Carol” (traditional)

Happy Monday! I hope you are all staying safe and healthy. Please enjoy this, my favorite Christmas carol, and don’t think too hard about what that says about me as a person.

Because of the holiday, there will be no new chapter this week. We’ll rejoin Berend and Isabel and their search for Sterry the Bastard next week. I’ll probably do some year-end things next week as well.

Stay warm, and have an excellent week.

Song of the Week: Double Feature

Kate Rusby, “Annan Waters”

The Decemberists, “Annan Water”

Happy Monday! Please enjoy these two versions of this Border ballad, one traditional and one less so. Fun fact: I named the first chapter of my undergraduate thesis “The Hazards of Love.” Medieval courtly love can be very hazardous, especially with all those eye-beams flying around.

I’ll be back later this week (hopefully Wednesday) with the next chapter of The Book of the New Moon Door. Berend and Isabel will have to locate and deal with a crime lord in order to find the murderer, so don’t miss it!

May you stay safe and warm this week and this season.

Song of the Week

Dermot Kennedy, “Glory”

Once again, we’re back to Monday. The work continues, but I hope that the results of this past week eases the burden of it.

The plan is to have the next chapter of The Book of the New Moon Door up on Wednesday. In the meantime, feel free to poke around the Stories and Modules tabs for some escapism.

Have an excellent week.

Song of the Week

Sam Lee and Daniel Pemberton, “The Devil and the Huntsman”

It’s Monday.

Have you voted yet? In many states, it’s too late to mail in your absentee ballot. Find an official collection box or go vote in person. Wear your mask! May you all be safe and your voices be heard.

I’m working a full shift as an election inspector tomorrow, so I am going to try to get the next chapter of The Book of the New Moon Door ready before then so it can go up on time on Wednesday. If I can’t manage that, it may go up later in the week. I’ll post an update if anything changes.

Good luck and have an excellent week.

Song of the Week

Cat Stevens/Yusuf, “Morning Has Broken”

Happy Monday!

First, a request: if you’re in the US and it’s at all possible for you, vote early. Here are some resources for different states.

I’ll be back on Wednesday with a new chapter of The Book of the New Moon Door. While Berend has been dealing with the haunting in the Belisia estate, Isabel continues to investigate what happened to Mikhail.

Have an excellent week.

Song of the Week

Anaïs Mitchell, “Wilderland”

It’s Monday again. Summer has packed up and gone, and October has arrived with its thin gray mornings and rich, sunny afternoons.

There is less than a month between us and the election in the US. Have you checked your registration? Do you have a plan to vote and keep yourself and others safe?

If all goes well, I should have another chapter of The Book of the New Moon Door up this week. See you then!

Song of the Week

Loreena McKennitt, “Dante’s Prayer”

It’s Monday again.

With the passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a lot of bad things are about to happen in America.

But they haven’t happened yet. Contact your senators and demand they do everything in their power to prevent another Trump appointee to a lifelong seat. Phone calls are the most effective; the Capitol switchboard is 202-224-3121.

Be prepared to march and keep an eye out for events in your area. Wear your mask!

Check your voter registration even if you’re pretty sure you’re registered. If you’re not, you can register here. At this stage, the best defense against voter suppression is overwhelming numbers. Due to Coronavirus, there will be a shortage of poll workers, so if you’re low-risk you can volunteer (and even get paid in some places): more information here.

I’ll compile more resources as I find them. I’ll also be back on Wednesday with the next chapter of The Book of the New Moon Door, for a bit of escapism.

Keep fighting the good fight.
