Song of the Week

Bring Me the Horizon, “Follow You”

Happy Monday! The storms are rolling in here. I’m hoping for a break in the humidity when they pass.

What hasn’t passed is the movement: there are still protests happening in my city and across the country, though media attention has moved on. If you’re in the US, you can contact your representatives at every level. Ask them to defund the police. Say you’ll remember their responses when the next election rolls around.

I’ll be back on Wednesday with what should be the last chapter of Beyond the Frost-Cold Sea. I’m so excited to bring this story to a close. Next week, I’ll be talking about the future of the blog and some upcoming projects. (There may one day be a continuation of Frost-Cold Sea. The reasons why will be clear after this week’s chapter.)

Take care of yourselves, and have an excellent week.

Song of the Week

Mikky Ekko, “Time”

Happy Monday! Not much to report here. Spring may or may not have finally arrived in a torrent of rain. There will be a new chapter of Beyond the Frost-Cold Sea here on Wednesday. See you then!

Song of the Week

Florence + the Machine, “Drumming Song”

Happy Monday!

Today is May the Fourth, which is Star Wars Day! To observe this day, I’ll have a Star Wars story up later this afternoon. It’s called Love Song in Six Verses and it’s very sad, though I’ve been told it’s a better love story than Attack of the Clones.

Edit: you can find Love Song in Six Verses here.

I will also be back Wednesday with another chapter of Beyond the Frost-Cold Sea.

Have an excellent week.

Song of the Week

Natalie Merchant, “Ophelia”

It’s Monday again. I hope everyone is staying safe.

I’ll be back on Wednesday with a new chapter of Beyond the Frost-Cold Sea, so I’ll see you then!

Have an excellent week.

Song of the Week

In the Valley Below, “Hymnal”

Happy Monday! Where I am, the sun is finally shining. Perhaps I will venture out into the empty city today and feel like the protagonist of a postapocalyptic novel.

I’ll be back on Wednesday with a new chapter of Beyond the Frost-Cold Sea, and on Friday with more Myst gameplay. I’m not sure if I’ll continue with Myst, as it isn’t very entertaining to watch or record (though it is a fun challenge to play), but I do have one more episode recorded and might as well post it.

Stay safe out there!

Song of the Week

Vienna Teng, “Blue Caravan”

Happy Monday! I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe.

I’ll be back on Wednesday with a new chapter of Beyond the Frost-Cold Sea, and on Friday with some more Myst gameplay, so if you need something to pass the time while in isolation, I’ve got you covered.

Have an excellent week!

Song of the Week

Kate Bush, “Jig of Life”

Happy Monday! I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy.

Until further notice, the plan is to post a new chapter of Beyond the Frost-Cold Sea every Wednesday until it’s finished. I’m not sure how many more chapters that will be; I think we’re past the halfway point, but not by much. It’s turned out to be much longer than I had originally thought, but I’m having fun with it, and I hope you are too.

I am no longer able to stream on Twitch because my internet connection, while free of charge, is not very fast. I end up being more than an hour ahead of the upload, so I can’t chat in real time with any viewers. To pass the time while I’m socially distancing, I’ve decided to upload some gaming videos to YouTube instead, and make them available here on the blog also. I think I’ll be playing Myst: Masterpiece Edition, for a bit of nostalgia, but I’ll have to check if it works on my computer first. You can expect the first video to make an appearance on Friday!

Have an excellent week, and don’t forget to wash your hands!

Song of the Week

Phildel, “Afraid of the Dark”

Happy Monday!

After some deliberation, I’ve decided to divide Chapter Four of The Well Below the Valley into two parts. Part One will be up Wednesday. It’s a bit shorter than these parts usually are, but I think getting all the setting up out of the way before I take you into the final dungeon will work better than doing it all at once. This also means that I’ll be on my alternating schedule of The Well and Beyond the Frost-Cold Sea for another few weeks yet.

I hope everyone has an excellent week!

Song of the Week: Double Feature

Loreena McKennitt, “The Lady of Shalott” (poem by Alfred, Lord Tennyson)

Emilie Autumn, “Shalott”

Happy Monday!

Here are two very different musical takes on the same figure in Arthuriana. I hope you enjoy them.

I’ll be back on Wednesday with another chapter of Beyond the Frost-Cold Sea. See you then!

Song of the Week

Shona Foster, “Oh Patience”

Happy Monday! We have survived January, here in the semi-frozen North, and a small rodent has declared there will be an early spring. I’m off to get the next chapter of Beyond the Frost-Cold Sea ready for you, so I will see you here Wednesday!

Have an excellent week.
