Song of the Week

Etta James, “I’d Rather Go Blind”

Hello again. It’s Monday.

The latest chapter of Journey to the Water will be up on Patreon tomorrow (Tuesday), and the new chapter of The Book of the New Moon Door will be up here on the blog on Wednesday.

Sad news below the cut:

My beloved cat Odin will not be with us much longer. Right now he’s still comfortable, but I can tell he’s slowing down. The vet said it could be days or weeks, and that was last Thursday.

A black-and-white cat lies on a nest made from a green winter coat and a bulky, gray crocheted scarf. He rests his head on the arm of a dark gray couch.

Working from home, I often don’t talk to anyone but my cats and my husband for days on end. While Solaire is an independent sort of baby, Odin has been by my side, helping me write and reminding me to take snack breaks, since we adopted him six years ago. He was already a senior cat then, and now he is almost fourteen years old. I had hoped that we would have a few more years with him.

I’m going to try to keep up with my regular posting schedule, but my priority right now is spending time with Odin in his last days and taking care of him. Streaming will be on hold for the next several weeks.

Thanks for reading, and have an excellent week.
